Looking Through My Childhood
As a child, I felt very restricted about what I could and couldn’t show regarding my personality. I laid the pictures at eye level by using old childhood pictures that shone my authentic moments, strung from deformed glasses, which were once my father’s. Looking down, almost like looking at my younger self, are images of what once was. Looking up to my future self, there is nothing, as the future is undetermined.
Materials
● Childhood Photographs on Clear Vinyl
● Film Cardstock Casings
● Metal Rings
● Repurposed Glasses from my Father
Description
An abstract take on jewelry, old photographs strung together draped from reformed and repurposed glasses.
Meaning
When looking down, almost at a younger self, there are rows of images of my past. Photographs are from various times, from being a newborn to first hitting a drastic change from puberty. The images drape, resembling tears of a past self I miss and cherish. Growing up, I was free to convey my true personality and show my colors wherever I went, which is a part I am still trying to regain.
